 Sun Safety

Protect Yourself and Your Family All Year Round

  1. Do not sunbathe.
  2. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure, especially between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the peak hours for harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
  3. When outdoors, use sunscreens rated SPF 15 or higher.  Apply them liberally, uniformly, and frequently.
  4. When exposed to sunlight, wear protective clothing such as long pants, long-sleeved shirts, broad-brimmed hats, and UV-protective sunglasses.
  5. Stay away from artificial tanning devices.
  6. Teach your children good sun protection habits at an early age: The damage that leads to adult skin cancers starts in childhood.
  7. Examine your skin head to toe at least once every three months.

Diabetes Support Group

The Diabetes Support Group will meet September 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of New Horizons Care Center.  Wellness will be discussed.  Call Trisha Mangus, R.N. at 307 548-5225 for more information.   Remember:  With Support We Can All Be Better!! 

 

Care Givers Support Group

The Care Givers Support Group will resume meeting in September.  Call Cathie Nunn 307 548-5200 for more information.  All caregivers are welcome to attend. 

 

Cancer Support Group

The Lovell Cancer Support Group will meet September 16, 2010 in the Multi-Purpose Room of New Horizons Care Center.  Everyone is invited.  At this meeting we will discuss speakers and topics for the coming year.  Please contact Janet Koritnik,, 307 548-5240 for more information.

 

Weight Watchers

There is a weekly Weight Watchers meeting held Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the Family Dining Room of the New Horizons Care Center.

 

1st Aid & CPR Classes

Classes are held monthly.  The next class will be Tuesday, September 21 First Aid is from 9 - 12 and CPR from 1 - 5 p.m. at the New Horizons Care Center.  The cost is $15 for each class, 1st Aid & CPR.  It will be held in the Family Dining Room, taught by Jim Thomas, RN, EMT-II.  

 

NBHH Foundation Cookbook

The North Big Horn Hospital Foundation Cookbook is now available for sale.  The cookbooks contain over 250 recipes from employees, volunteers, board members and patients of North Big Horn.  All the proceeds from the cookbooks will go to new equipment, education and/or hospital needs.  The cookbooks cost $10 and are available at the North Big Horn Hospital, North Big Horn Hospital Clinic, New Horizons Care Center Gift Shop or by calling Janet Koritnik, Foundation Coordinator, at 307-548-5240.

 

Health Fair

The annual Health Fair will be Saturday, September 25 at the Lovell Community Center, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Blood Draws will be September 11,and 12 -18, in the Multi Purpose Room of New Horizons Care Center from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. each day.  The Health Fair will  feature many booths with great information.  North Big Horn Hospital Clinic will be closed on September 25 for the providers can attend the Health Fair.  A Classic and Muscle Care Show will also be at the Health Fair this year. 

 

Blood Pressure Checks at the Senior Citizens Center

On Tuesdays, September 7 & 21,  from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. North Big Horn Hospital will be at the Senior Citizens Center in Lovell to do FREE Blood Pressure Checks.  This will be a monthly outreach provided by North Big Horn Hospital.  North Big Horn Hospital also offers FREE Blood Pressure Checks at the hospital nurse's station at any time.

North Big Horn Hospital Clinic

North Big Horn Hospital Clinic will be closed on Monday, September 5.   our Emergency Room is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for any emergency. 

 

North Big Horn Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament

The 8th annual North Big Horn Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Foster Gulch Golf Course in Lovell, WY.  All proceeds from the tournament will go towards new recliners for the hospital.  To register a team or sponsor a hoe please call Janet at 307 548-5240.

 

Women's Health Care Luncheon

On Friday October 1st North Big Horn Hospital District will provide a free lunch for women at the Lovell Community Center at 11:30.  At noon Mary Freund, NP-C will present a program on Women's Health Issues.  All women are invited to this free lunch and program; and to learn about our Digital Mammography.  Please RSVP to307 548-5201 for September 27.

 

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
