North Big Horn Hospital’s Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing skilled, compassionate care for patients of all ages.
Highly Trained Medical Providers: All clinicians are certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to ensure rapid, expert care during emergencies.Specialized Pediatric Emergency Care: We are proud to be a State-Designated Pediatric Receiving Facility, equipped and trained to handle pediatric emergencies with confidence and care.Dedicated Nursing Team: Our experienced nursing staff is trained in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to provide safe, personalized care.Comprehensive Life Support Training: Emergency Department providers, nurses, paramedics, and respiratory staff are all certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).Efficient Emergency Transfers: For patients requiring specialized treatment, we coordinate emergency transfers via critical care ground transport, helicopter, or fixed-wing aircraft to major medical centers in Billings, Denver, or Salt Lake City. A helipad is located on-site for rapid access.Modern Technology: We use up-to-date medical equipment to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.Short Wait Times: Our patients are typically seen by a provider within 19 minutes of arrival—faster than the national rural average of 34 minutes.At North Big Horn Hospital, we are continually working to enhance our Emergency Department to better serve the needs of our community with timely, compassionate, and expert care.
