Cardiopulmonary Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: Lead and manage the Cardiopulmonary Services department to deliver safe, high-quality respiratory, cardiac, and sleep lab services. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards (ACHC, Wyoming state licensure), and budget goals while supervising staff and maintaining equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIILITIES:
1. Oversee daily operations of Respiratory Therapy, Cardiac Rehab, Sleep Lab, EKG, Holter monitoring, stress testing, pulmonary function testing.
2. Develop, update, and enforce department policies, procedures, and quality standards.
3. Perform and teach all respiratory care procedures; serve as clinical resource for staff, physicians, and nursing.
4. Manage staffing: interview, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, coach, and discipline employees.
5. Create and monitor annual budget; control costs, approve purchases, negotiate equipment/service contracts.
6. Maintain preventive maintenance program for all equipment; ensure safety standards and proper storage/repair.
7. Coordinate services with physicians, nursing, and other departments.
8. Conduct staff meetings, in-service training, and competency programs.
9. Collect and report departmental statistics, quality metrics, and invoices.
10. Attend hospital committees and represent the department.
11. Respond to patient/staff complaints and resolve issues per hospital policy.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Direct supervision of all Cardiopulmonary Services staff.
2. Advise Chief Operating Officer on employee performance, attendance, conduct, and development needs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Expert in respiratory therapy, ventilation management, ABG collection and analysis, cardiology procedures, pulmonary function testing, and related equipment
2. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and infection control
3. Budget development and financial management
4. Principles of staff supervision, training, and performance management
5. Regulatory standards (ACHC, CMS, state licensure)
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Cerner EMR, email, and calendar systems
7. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
8. Ability to analyze data, develop policies, and implement change
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy program
3. Current Wyoming State License
4. NBRC credential (RRT preferred; CRT accepted)
5. BLS and ACLS required (within 6 months of hire)
6. PALS strongly preferred
7. At least 4 years of experience as a respiratory therapist
8. Minimum 1-year supervisory experience in cardiopulmonary services

• Work is usually sedentary, but does require driving, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and grasping with risk of environmental exposure to communicable diseases.
