Required: Wyoming RN License, experience in pre/post op surgical areas.

JOB SUMMARY: The registered surgical nurse in this facility will be accountable to plan, coordinate, administer or supervise nursing care given by others, and to evaluate outcomes to the patients within the surgical areas of this facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIILITIES:
1. Maintain knowledge and technical skills to provide nursing care within the OR.
2. Have a basic knowledge of the surgeries/procedures offered within the OR
3. Have knowledge of patient’s diagnoses and medical regime and planned procedure and have the ability to coordinate nursing care with surgical/medical care, assisting and cooperating with the surgical/medical providers to give high quality care.
4. Have an understanding of and ability to perform care and to record on care plans and charts, the basic nursing process, observation and assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning of patient care, implementation of care plans, and evaluation of results.
5. Assure for the provision of pertinent health education to patients, their significant others, and ancillary hospital personnel as needed.
6. Be ready and able to make and implement appropriate decisions regarding changes in patient’s condition necessitating rapid communication of information to the medical provider or other staff as needed.
7. Have a supportive interest in the physical, biological, psychological, social, and spiritual welfare of each patient by effectively utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to alleviate problems as noted in any area.
8. Directly administer nursing care including all treatments and medications or be responsible in providing direction to support nursing staff as they provide patient care within the scope of their job descriptions.
9. Have a knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and a commitment to adhere to them, thus protecting the overall welfare of the patient and of this facility.
10. Actively participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities of the hospital nursing department to provide quality care to all individuals who seek our services.
