Patient Access Representative
Full-Time Position Available

JOB SUMMARY: Perform general duties of NBHH Business Office including admissions, reception, cashiering, billing, telephone communications, and filing, typing and computer entry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIILITIES:

1. Efficiently and accurately complete admission registration for all patient types and service types.
2. Obtain required signatures on consents and admission forms and other forms required by Medicare. Make sure all required handouts and information are given to Medicare patients.
3. Confirm patient insurance eligibility and/or benefits through registration software.
4. Receive visitors, answer phones, take and deliver messages, page, pick up and sort mail, stock necessary forms, post charges and receipts to accounts and other duties assigned.
5. Run daily Census, Registration and AR reports for Patient Access Supervisor.
6. Assist other departments when able as requested by supervisor with typing, scanning, copying, setting up meeting rooms and any additional duties assigned.
7. Assist with patient accounts, answer patient questions, accept payments and post payments to accounts.
8. Demonstrate knowledge of insurance guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial insurances to include need for pre-authorizations, non-coverage, etc.
9. Deal effectively and with sensitivity with patients’, families, and staff both in person and over the telephone.
10. Maintain quality results by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Personal Service Excellence standards.
11. Use AIDET in daily communication with customers and staff.
12. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
13. Demonstrate proficient use of computer, calculator, typewriter, copy machine and telephone, scanner, and postage machine, etc.

Requirements: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Must have basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn EMR technology. An ability for a high degree of accuracy is necessary, as is the ability to work efficiently, demonstrating strong organizational skills and perform problem-solving skills.

Desirable Requirement: Completion of courses in college or business college pertaining to office skills is desirable. Experience in any healthcare office and/or clinical role.
